For Mom:
 
  • After delivery you will need to wear a supportive bra and binder for 14 days.
  • Remove bra to shower only.
  • Shower with your back to the water flow.
  • Avoid any breast stimulation
  • You may experience some discomfort for a 24-48 hour period, you may use Motrin for the discomfort.

For Baby:
  • Always hold the baby close, face to face while feeding.
  • Burp the baby in the middle and the end of each feeding.
  • Your baby will want to eat every 2 to 4 hours.  Feedings will last approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Hold the bottle so formula fills the nipple and the baby can't suck air.
  • Formula should not be left out of the refrigerator for more than 1 hour.
  • Never use a microwave for heating formula.
  • Heat bottles in warm water until room temperature.
  • Always test formula before feeding baby.
  • Never prop the bottle and leave baby unattended.
  • Do not put baby to bed with a bottle.
  • Nurses at the hospital will assist you with bottle feeding.
  • Your pediatrician will tell you which formula to feed your baby.
  • All formula is provided during your hospital stay.
  • Follow special instructions on formula container for directions on preparation.
  • Your pediatrician will give you more specific information on feeding your baby.
